2017 Malaysian GP F1nale Drivers Parade
After 19 years of hosting, the F1 circus finally takes it last bow in Malaysia. This time the grandstands were fully packed, the fullest we have seen in the past ten years maybe.
In honour of this memorable occasion we brought some nice toys as we did previous the years.
But this time it was very rushed. With only 4 days’ notice, we needed to commission a grid of cars of all sorts from changing oil, bleeding brakes, tuning carburettors, replacing batteries and tires, touching up imperfections and organizing everything needed to run the drivers’ parade and a car display. Basically, the boys were pushed to the limits of their skill and patience.
In the end, their toil and sweat paid off handsomely. All the cars, from 1950 right up to 2013, performed flawlessly; even during the tiring 4 hours crawl back home after the race.
After a stringent selection process from both FIA and Sepang officials, our cars were chosen to ferry both the Scuderia Ferrari Team Drivers Vettel and Raikkonen, Lance Stroll of Williams and the current F1 Drivers' Championship leader Lewis Hamilton.
It was such a joy this time around. The rain had just cleared leaving the track cool and breezy and all the drivers were in a jolly mood. Last year, we took the full brunt of a blisteringly hot Sepang and the parade drivers were totally destroyed even before the race started.
When you are top dog, the cameras follow you everywhere...
As an added bonus, all our Ferraris cleaned the trophy cabinet in the 70th Anniversary Ferrari Concourse and all our Mercedes secured top honours in the 50 Years AMG concourse.
Most definitely, we can't have a better Malaysian GP farewell than this.
Come to think of it, if Lewis Hamilton secures this year’s F1 Drivers' tittle, we will be the last Malaysians in Malaysia to ever to parade a Formula 1 World Champion. Awesome... STEADY SHE GOES LEWIS!
