The Drive In Automotive
Team KLRegistry @ RLIR2020
The fantastic Royal Langkawi International Regatta 2020 has come to an end and boy what an adventure it was. After defending the IRC title for 5 consecutive years from 2015 to 2019, the longest on record, this year’s IRC1 title has gone to Team Japan.
As we are in our element when facing very strong and ultra light winds, this year’s regatta presented a unique challenge as all, but the last day, the winds were not in our favor. This gave the bigger boats a comfortable boost to edge ahead. Coupled with some mistakes made early in the week, the title gradually slipped from our grasp. At this level, you had to deliver consistent results and with the least mistakes to bring the cup home.
Unlike many other competitive sports though, in sailing, your fiercest enemy in the water becomes your best friend when dry. So, as much as we fought ferociously at sea, we we partied even harder on land together. That's the magical spirit that is truly unique in the Royal Langkawi International Regatta. And to top it off, this years regatta was graced by none other than the Prime Minister of Malaysia himself! So awesome. Plus! This year's official poster, fliers and media backdrops is certainly the best designs yet, in our unbiased opinion!
In the end we came in 2nd in IRC1 Class. Not a bad consolation, but we are certainly looking forward to reclaiming the title next year. Steady as she goes Malaysia!
